Sharing vs Show & Tell

Calvin's Show & Tell days are on Mondays.  The first Monday, he brought in his green light-up Light Saber.  He was so excited!  At the end of the day when the teacher asked him if he had any sharing, he told her no.  So after a couple of other people shared, he told his teacher, that he DID have sharing!  But time had run out, so he had to share the next day.

I talked to him about it and come to find out, he didn't realize Sharing and Show & Tell were the same thing!  So all is understood now.

Fast forward a couple of weeks to tonight.....and Calvin says, "Mom, I still don't understand why Sharing and Show & Tell are the same thing.  I mean, when you share with some one, it's like you say, 'Do you want to play with this too?'  and Show & Tell is when you tell about something you're showing people."

Too smart for his britches!

Wii

Mike bought a new game for the Wii
It is so fun!  I'm not sure who has more fun though....the kids, Mike, or myself!  Haha  I'd take a pic, but it surely won't capture the humor nor the fun!

Summer Toes!

On the beach Mike and I used to spend a lot of time on when were younger. The true Northern California beaches are not like the Southern end of the state! But, it's a beach none the less! :)

Save Our Schools

I just listened to this speech by Matt Damon and it is so encouraging, that I had to share.  I didn't know that his mother was a teacher.  His words are so true and I wish those in power would understand education just like Matt Damon obviously does.  You cannot test how much a child has grown and how much a child has learned.  So many things taught by teachers cannot be tested.  You can test how much math they have learned and the like, but that's not all that teaching is about.  It's not all that learning is about.

He then went on to defend teachers in this little interview by a reporter who has NO clue.

Thank you Matt Damon, for publicly standing up for us when it often seems the world is against us.

I Can't Wait!

At the end of the month I'll actually have a paycheck!  It has been a very hard 8 months not getting paid.  My last disability check was in February.  6 months now not contributing to our income.  Since I'm the primary bread winner, this has made things really hard.  God has provided and somehow we're still here, but man, the end of the month can't come too soon!
