The Bug Zapper

Have you seen one of these handy dandy bug zappers?  Calvin got it for Mike for his birthday and it's been awesome!  Not only does it work well, it's fun to use!  It gets the flies quickly!  Just thought I'd share our little fun, useful find!

Can it be?

Mia just turned 9 years old.  Not sure how this happened, but it did.  Sadly.  I'm trying to accept it. Remember this girl?

Mia is still such a sweetheart.  As I've posted before, she has such an amazing passion for people and prayer.  What could be better?  Nothing.  She is not a huge talker.  She absorbs things by watching.  She sees needs in situations and reacts with heart.  Seriously, she is amazing.

We asked our usual birthday favorites questions...

Number: 1
Season: winter
Movie: Rio
Singer: Francesca Batistelli

Fav thing on your birthday: hanging out with my family

A Big Change

A beloved family member.
One who is older than any of the kids.
One who gave more love than she ever could have received.
One who will be dearly missed by us all.

The one and only Happy Honsal is spending her last spoiled night on a comfy bed inside a warm house.  She is nearly 14 years old.  Mike and I bought her as our 1st year anniversary present to each other.  She was our first baby.  The first one to dig up ALL my freshly planted tulip bulbs!

This is really hard on Mike and I, but on Juliet as well.  Juliet has always been extremely close to Happy.  They were buddies.  Happy always sat with Jewelz as she did her homework, from the time she started school.  This is the first time my kids have really lost a pet.  I don't count fish, cause we've lost countless and the kids aren't attached to them, so that hasn't impacted them.

But this.

This has been a first.  First time I've had to explain how we put animals down.  Why we have to do it, and that it's completely ok to cry and be sad.

We'd love your prayers.  They will comfort us as we walk this path.  And that we don't get too annoyed with Zoey.  One who just chewed through my vacuum cord tonight.  Nice.

He Loves Me

My husband loves me.  And he speaks to me through songs.  Check out my facebook page and you'll see.  It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. ;)

Proclamation of Faith

BIG DAY for this Honsal Family!

What's your favorite?

We like to play this when we can't think of anything to talk about.  Last night we were out to dinner and there was a large group of people sitting next to us.  It was one of those groups who were out just to drink and have fun.  Nothing wrong with that, in my opinion, but they were in a family restaurant.  One lady was drunk and extremely LOUD and foul mouthed.  It was hard not to stare.  We kept trying to ignore her and enjoy our time, but it was hard.  So Juliet piped up with our game....

"So Mom, what's your favorite fruit and vegetable?" So here's a list of our favorites.  Not necessarily because I think you should read it, but so that I don't forget these kinds of things as our days past and I will forget!

Let's Say "I DO" .....again

I was 20 when Mike and I got married.

Young.

In love.

Crazy.

Never been to a wedding.

Had no idea what I was doing........wedding or otherwise!

It's been almost 15 years now, and I want to get married again!  My ideas and tastes have grown and developed so much in that time that I have a new way I want to do it.

Plus so many of our big wedding gifts have kicked the bucket that it's time to register again! hehehe

But when we do say "I DO!" again, I want Platinum Photography to capture the memories and Deborah Anfuso Giles to do all the food and decorations!

A girl can dream, right?

2/3 Glowing Reports

And that's only because we haven't received the 3rd one yet.  I'm sure it will be glowing, just as it has been the last 6 grades for Jewelz.  We like to celebrate with each report card.  But I have a feeling it's more for Mike and I than it is for the kids.  They don't seem to even know what an accomplishment a great report card is.  It's like it comes naturally to them, so it's not a huge deal.  For Mike and I, who both wasted away our years in school not demonstrating our capabilities well, we get excited for them.

It's ok to celebrate their successes though, none-the-less!

Oldie but GOODIE

I came across this tonight and shed a tear. Calvin was 2 here.  I barely remember this stage. I wish my memory was better and could remember all of these moments as the kids grow. It seems that one new memory seems to overshadow the old and then the oldies just fade. Thank goodness for video cameras, I guess!
