One of Calvin's favorite movies is Toy Story. He loves Buzz Lightyear and all that goes with it. The theme of Christmas for Cal was definitely Toy Story! I love this pic...

I got a new toy!
I have been saving and waiting and hoping for MONTHS and it finally happened! I was completely giddy when I got the ok to go get it! Just in time to play before Christmas!
I love taking pics of the kids. I get so enthusiastic when I get a good pic. There is a style that I just love too. Makes me happy when I can create it! I have many many friends who are like me. Maybe something happens in us when we become moms. We MUST get that cute pic! We must take a thousand pictures to capture every moment! I don't know what it is! So many of those same friends are taking on the photography world by storm. While I like photographing my family and friends, I don't have any desire to take pics of other people and have that pressure of getting the perfect shot that I expect of professional photographers like they do! I'd rather stick to my business of creating cards and stuff for people! LOL
Anywho, here are some results of my playing...

And there is one more that many of you will be seeing on your Christmas card (when I finish them and get them mailed!)
I didn't take any pictures today and I feel a little strange. Almost like I missed out on something today. Weird. Maybe I'll make up for it tomorrow! ;)
Let's play Trivia!
The kids have started this game where one person says a line from a movie and we all have to guess what movie it's from. It's a fun game because we all know the same movies and everyone gets to play.
Tonight they are playing and Juliet said a line. Cal guessed "Cinderella!" Juliet said no, so Cal then guessed, "Cinderella 2?" No. "Cinderella 3?" No. Juliet tells Calvin, "it has nothing to do with Cinderella 1, 2, or 3 Calvin!" (as if there is such a thing!) So he guesses, "Is it Cinderella 4?" The room erupts with laughter! That kid cracks us up!

Our Tree!!!
We went out in the rain and found the perfect tree! It was the easiest task this year. Maybe because Cal is a year older. Last year he wanted to run around the entire place, while jumping in every water bin in sight!

Blogging
Ok, So I haven't been the best at keeping you all updated in a while. I just haven't been in the blogging mood again.
School is a nightmare for me this year. We moved into the old high school building because we are now a K-8 school. My classroom is the old auto shop remodeled. It is huge and beautiful with lots of storage, but it echos just as a gym would. Imagine trying to teach kindergartners letters/sounds in a room the echos like the grand canyon. It makes for a daily headache. Literally.
The girls love school. They are doing so well. Juliet just finished a huge school business project where they had to become entrepenuers, and present their business at the school business fair. It was a huge deal, and she and her friend did a great job on it. She brings home 100% on nearly ALL tests. Math, spelling, comprehension, social studies, science, writing. She loves writing letters and using her imagination to create stories. She still likes to play with Polly Pockets and has no interest in maturing out of all the little kid things. She is definitely a challenge right now, behavior wise. I think it's all hormonal, which makes sense, but doesn't help in the moments of frustration. She is bossy, head strong, determined, arguementative, and all that comes with the sassiness many girls have. We are trying our best to pray over her and model good choices while disciplining where needed. Sometimes disciplining seems like all we do. It's a tough job, that's for sure. But, I was at a Women of Faith conference last weekend, and God reminded me that HE has a relationship with Jules and I don't need to be the mediator of it. I need to remember to let God speak to her and not speak for Him. It is a daily challenge, and a daily act of giving her back to Him. My prayers for her are for discernment, and wisdom in making good choices of following God's leading all day long. Tough stuff, I tell ya!
Mia is reading so well now. She definitely comes into her own at her own pace. She hasn't had much interest in the academics of school. She just likes it for the social aspect, but she is learning what it feels like to be proud of accomplishing academic milestones and she is striving towards goals. She loves girly things. She has an awesome sense of fashion and loves to put together every single one of her outfits. She loves to help. She loves to clean, and she loves to make people happy. She had the kindest heart of anyone I know. She is sincere and genuine in each act of kindness that comes out of her little body. I love her to pieces!
Calvin is all boy. He is still a complete crack up. He can make you laugh within moments of greeting him. He loves to wink now, and tell "Why did the _____ cross the road? To get to the ____ at the other side!" jokes. He will add whatever he is thinking of into the blanks and tell it with gusto. They sometimes make sense, but we all laugh because he has the best delivery! He loves to play with Legos, cars, and rocketships. He is an animal on MarioKart. He has unlocked nearly every game and character. But he's having to do it again, because after playing one afternoon, he deleted his character! He was crushed. He kept telling Mike all day what he had done and would just sit on the couch and mope. It was comical, actually! He can also take down Uncle Greg with some serious KO's in Wii Boxing!
We got to spend Thanksgiving with Uncle Greg, Aunt Lissa, and Roman. Roman is the cutest little 6 month old ever. (Ok, so I'm biased!) He is the happiest baby. He loves everyone (well me the most, of course!) smiles at everything, has the kissiest cheeks, is very tickelish, makes the greatest faces, sleeps well, eats well, and rarely cries. I love that little guy. I just wish it wasn't so darn expensive to fly. I really want to take the kids out to Texas to visit with them. Buying 5 tickets, even on Southwest, just adds up too much. I hate that. But I'm going to wait on God's timing to go. I have a feeling when I get out there again, I won't want to come back to CA. ;)
Christmas this year is going to be fun. Although Juliet knows that Santa isn't real, Mia and Calvin still believe. I enjoy that part. We don't over emphasize Santa because our focus is on the real reason for Christmas. We like to make a big birthday party out of the day. Birthday cake and all! The kids are overly excited whenever they see lights on people's houses. They were thrilled to help Mike put ours up outside and can't wait until we get our tree up tomorrow. I am excited because I am out of school at noon on Thursday with no school Friday, which means I can go to the girls' class parties on Friday! YAY!
Well, that turned out to be a long update! But I guess it was overdue. So there you go. I will add some new pics here soon too. Until then, enjoy your loved ones this Christmas season. Remember to laugh a true belly laugh at least once every day!

A Sneak Peak
Just thought I'd give you a little taste of what's to come. The kids are all so excited about their costumes, they have no care about the candy part of Halloween! Ha ha ha

Sweet Moments....
It was a crazy rushed night in the Honsal Household tonight. Coming home from work, rush homework so we could get to soccer practice ontime, leave early from practice so we could get to church on time (I had to work in Cal's class tonight), rush home to go to bed and watch MY show night! As I was getting Cal ready for bed, I told the girls to get ready for bed and get in to wait for me to come and pray with them. I peak around the corner to find this....

Feels like Fall
The girls are at the tail end of their fall break. What else could we do this week besides hit the pumpkin farm?! We love this pumpkin farm. It's about a half hour drive and so worth it. We packed a lunch and made a day of it.

The sun will come out....
Tomorrow! Yes, we're watching Annie for the first time tonight! I watched it a ton as a kid, and am curious to see how the girls like it. So far so good! It's just as I remember it.

Louis?
Announcing! The New Student Body...
SECRETARY!!!
She made her speech in front of all the 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders, taped up posters, handed out stickers, and the voting went in her favor! I've been trying to get the video of her speech up online, but it's not cooperating. As soon as Mike has time to mess with it, I'll add that here too!

Challenging Times
Two kids with homework, and one 3 year old who just wants to play!
How do I balance it? And right now I'm not in school. What happens when I'm back in school and exhausted from the day? And then Mike leaves for work in the midst of it all! Oh, and can't forget soccer practice twice a week. Throw that in there too!
It's definitely going to take me some time adjusting to this new schedule/dynamics. And I'm thinking a more regular visit to the massage place!

Philippians 2:2-4
Look it up real quick.....(or click on the title to read the verse)
Websters dictionary definition for considerate is: thoughtful of the rights and feelings of others. The definition of compassion is: sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate it. The photo under either of these words should display a picture of Mia.
She is truly the most considerate and most compassionate person I know. I say this as her mom, but I know it's a gift God has given her. For example, tonight Juliet came to tell me that her tummy hurt a little. I told her to lay down and just rest for a bit. Without saying a word, or anyone saying anything to her, Mia got up and sneaked into her room to get a blanket and proceeded to place it over Juliet. Then she just sits down and goes back to her homework. She does these kinds of things without wanting any kind of acknowledgment either. It's simply how her heart works. She truly cares about people. She truly wants to help people and make them happy, with nothing in return. I see God in her in so many ways. It's so awesome!
Mia is a true example of Phil 2:2-4

STAR scores
We just got Juliet's STAR scores from last year.....
ELA - 396 Proficient (6 points from Advanced!)
Math - 516 Advanced (3/5 areas 100%)
We are so incredibly proud. Having given that test for 7 years, I know how hard that test is. It is HARD. Makes these scores even more incredible. Way to go Jules!

Back to School
We had french toast and bacon for breakfast! Breakfast of champions!

It's just crazy to believe. Juliet started 4th grade today and Mia started 1st. Man, it was tough to walk them to school and then try to fathom their age and leave them there! Fortunately we weren't the only parents following our kids to their classes. There were dozens of us!
Mia blew many kisses! Mia has the same teacher that Juliet had in 1st grade. We just loved her. She greeted Mia with a huge smile and a warm handshake.
Juliet was a little apprehensive as this year she has 31 classmates! She is probably the shortest one in class to, and the youngest, but she'll get over that soon enough. She has some friends from years past in her class and we were fortunate enough to get the teacher we requested for her.
We're excited for a new year, but most of all Calvin is excited for, "BOYS TIME!"
