Weeding through things

We have been wanting to have a yard sale for quite some time now, but we just haven't had the opportunity to gather all the things we need to get rid of. Hopefully early this summer when I'm home during the day so that Mike can go through the garage and organize some stuff. The girls and I went through some of their old clothes and stuffed animals today. They play with all their animals often. We keep them in two big plastic tubs under their bed so they can easily be brought out and then can be put back so they are out of the way. We waded through the animals and they each decided on specific ones to give away and ones to keep. Then Jules wanted to pray over the bag so that the children who receive them would be blessed. She can be so compassionate, it melts my heart. So the girls prayed over the animals and of course, Cal wanted in on the idea! He prayed, "Dear Jesus, help Mommy sleep good. Amen."

New phrases and tricks

Calvin says or does something new each day. It's quite hilarious! He'll be two in 8 days!
He can now jump with both feet off the ground.
He runs everywhere!
He asks in full sentences for thing. "Mommy, warm milk please. Help please Mommy. Mia, don't do that!"
He can count 1-10 sometimes. Usually he skips five!
He can sing parts of "Down by the Bay"
He knows all his body parts.
He knows the sounds of the majority of animals.
He knows all the Bob the Builder characters.
Still loves his blankies!
Loves to ride the scooter with Daddy!
He prays, "Dear God, thank you Jesus, love you, Amen"
He loves to play outside, but won't hold a lady bug when Mia wants him to!
He can scream way louder than the girls combined!
When asked if he's Mommy's Boy, he answers, "Yea, Mommy's Boy and Daddy's boy too!"

I'm so A Mom!

Last night while the girls were in the shower, I was laying on my bed with my feet dangling off the side. Calvin was having a ball tickling my toes! Somewhere he found a pen (a ballpoint one fortunately) and was running it around on my calf. I didn't think it was working, but was just wiggling my leg because it tickled. Every time I wiggled it, he would break out in hysterics! So this game continued until I pulled my leg up only to realize that the pen HAD been working!

We are in our last day of testing this morning at school and as my students were having a snack, one of them asks me, "Mrs. Honsal, why do you have pen on your leg?"

Yea, I was embarrassed! I showered...really, I DID! Guess I just forgot to scrub!

Lady Bugs

Mia not only loves butterflies, but lady bugs too. Our roses have been covered with aphids lately. I have been spraying them, but we noticed the other day that there have been some lady bugs on them. So every day Mia goes out and finds a lady bug or two and gets them to crawl on her finger. She loves those little guys. She could be out there for hours watching them and letting them crawl around on her. Calvin thinks it's funny and will watch while laughing with excitement. Mia tries to get him to hold one, and he'll put his finger out there, but as soon as it gets close to him, he pulls his finger away and steps back yelling, "Tickles, tickles!"

It's awfully cute!

HonzCreations

That's my new business name! I'm in the process of getting my business license, finally! I'm very excited about it because I absolutely love making things for people. I make invitations, announcements, favors, guest books, etc. Whatever you need, I'll do my bests to accommodate. I find such joy in creating. My dream is to make this my career. I'm working on a website as well, so that will promote my work much easier. It just thrills me to no end knowing that this could be a possibility. If you know me well, you know I've been wanting to do this for a long time.

If you have any input for me, or would like me to create anything for you, just let me know. I'll gladly whip something up for you! Also.....spread the word! ;)

Kindergarten!

Well, it's official. We now have 2 children in school. We registered Mia for kindergarten last week. She is completely excited for kinder, but we are not! She is going to have a blast and surely do very well, but it's just hard to believe. She will be 5 this Thursday and we're still trying to grasp that. All she can think about is Daddy making her lunch every day. She just hasn't wanted to believe yet that she won't be there for lunch!

Butterflies

My parents bought butterfly larva for us again this year. They arrive as little teeny tiny caterpillars, then we watch them make their chrysalises and then a few days later, they hatch into Monarch Butterflies. The kids really enjoy watching them and wait for them to transform. This year a couple of the butterflies had some damaged wings. It turned out really neat though because one of them stuck around the yard for a few days. He became Mia's friend!

And ANOTHER first!

Stitches that is! Jules split her chin open while in the shower last night. She was getting out of the shower so we could get ready for the Royalty Night at church (something she'd been looking forward to for 2 weeks). Mike and I weren't quite sure what to do. We didn't know if it would require stitches or not. What is the requirement for stitches anyway? Anyone know?

So we got ready for Royalty Night in the hopes that we would make at least some of it. We really felt like it was a spiritual attack against the knowledge that she was about to gain about being God's princess as part of the Royal Family of God! We went to urgent care and they had her stitched up (3 in all) and checked out within an hour. We made it for the last hour of the festivities (the message part) and she was thrilled. She is doing well now, 24 hours later, but has had some Motrin for the discomfort. She was one brave chick!

Yet another first

I'm beginning to think that I really have to change my prayer life for Jules. She is coming home with things that I have never prepared myself for. I've always prayed certain prayers for her, but being the naive child that I was, many of her firsts are mine as well.

Tonight she came into my room after being in bed for about 10 minutes stating that she couldn't sleep. She began to cry and say that two of her classmates were talking about "Bloody Mary" and that one of them "swears she's seen her". And that she is a vampire. So we had a little talk about how those people are just in movies and are not real. We talked about how God creates all things that are good and that we don't have to have any fear because God says we don't. We also talked about how there are many people in the world who believe that those people are real, and that most often they are the ones who don't have Jesus in their hearts. And how thankful and grateful we are because we have Jesus and believe in his Word. We also talked about how to react to classmates who talk about things like that. She felt empowered by that for sure!

We prayed and asked God to remove those images in her mind and replace them with good thoughts and good dreams tonight. She melts my heart at how tender she is. I'm trying to create an open relationship with her and I'm thankful for nights like tonight which build our relationship between each other, as well as strengthen our trust in the Lord.
