Mia is now 5 years old! Ugh. Where does the time go? We're having a Build A Bear party today, but we had a family celebration on her actual birthday too. It's a tradition in our family to be woken up early on your birthday with a cupcake and a present while the family sings to you! This was Mia first thing in the morning of her birthday....she was just a little excited!

That's my new business name! I'm in the process of getting my business license, finally! I'm very excited about it because I absolutely love making things for people. I make invitations, announcements, favors, guest books, etc. Whatever you need, I'll do my bests to accommodate. I find such joy in creating. My dream is to make this my career. I'm working on a website as well, so that will promote my work much easier. It just thrills me to no end knowing that this could be a possibility. If you know me well, you know I've been wanting to do this for a long time.If you have any input for me, or would like me to create anything for you, just let me know. Well, it's official. We now have 2 children in school. We registered Mia for kindergarten last week. She is completely excited for kinder, but we are not! She is going to have a blast and surely do very well, but it's just hard to believe. She will be 5 this Thursday and we're still trying to grasp that. All she can think about is Daddy making her lunch every day. She just hasn't wanted to believe yet that she won't be there for lunch!
Stitches that is! Jules split her chin open while in the shower last night. She was getting out of the shower so we could get ready for the Royalty Night at church (something she'd been looking forward to for 2 weeks). Mike and I weren't quite sure what to do. We didn't know if it would require stitches or not. What is the requirement for stitches anyway? Anyone know? So we got ready for Royalty Night in the hopes that we would make at least some of it. We really felt like it was a spiritual attack against the knowledge that she was about to gain about being God's princess as part of the Royal Family of God! We went to urgent care and they had her stitched up (3 in all) and checked out within an hour. We made it for the last hour of the festivities (the message part) and she was thrilled. She is doing well now, 24 hours later, but has had some Motrin for the discomfort. She was one brave chick!
I'm beginning to think that I really have to change my prayer life for Jules. She is coming home with things that I have never prepared myself for. I've always prayed certain prayers for her, but being the naive child that I was, many of her firsts are mine as well.Tonight she came into my room after being in bed for about 10 minutes stating that she couldn't sleep. She began to cry and say that two of her classmates were talking about "Bloody Mary" and that one of them "swears she's seen her". And that she is a vampire. So we had a little talk about how those people are just in movies and are not real. We talked about how God creates all things that are good and that we don't have to have any fear because God says we don't. We also talked about how there are many people in the world who believe that those people are real, and that most often they are the ones who don't have Jesus in their hearts. And how thankful and grateful we are because we have Jesus and believe in his Word. We also talked about how to react to classmates who talk about things like that. She felt empowered by that for sure!We prayed and asked God to remove those images in her mind and replace them with good thoughts and good dreams tonight. She melts my heart at how tender she is. I'm trying to create an open relationship with her and I'm thankful for nights like tonight which build our relationship between each other, as well as strengthen our trust in the Lord.
Our bedtime conversation tonight:
Me: So Jules, what'd you learn in class tonight?Jules: I learned about being brave and not being afraid. Well, we talked about Jesus sleeping on a boat with some disciples. There was a big storm with thunder and lightening and everything. There was big waves too. The disciples were really worried and trying to wake up Jesus. So they finally woke up Jesus and he said, 'QUIET! BE STILL! I made all this.' So the waves were calm. Me: Wow, Jules. That's crazy, huh.Jules: Yea, and I was a worship leader tonight too. Wanna hear the song?Me: Course!Jules: (sings "We Fall Down")Mike: That's beautiful Jules.Jules: I was leading worship like the people in your class [the sanctuary where we are] I was singing and raising my hands with my eyes closed and I was focusing on Jesus and thinking about God. And God talked to me.Me: What did He say?Jules: He said, "Be brave, it's just your class." (meaning singing in front of them) He said, "You are my favorite girl!"Me: tears now streamingMike: tears streamingMe: You know Jules, sometimes we don't hear God.Jules: I know, He talks very quietlyMe: But you were quietly listening to Him, and that's awesome Jules. I'm very proud of you for listening and hearing Him. You are awesome, Jules! (still crying)

Some of the latest tricks he has learned:
- He started counting. When you say one, he starts with two and goes all the way to ten!
- He can say the A-B-C. (It's a start!)
- He loves to strum the guitar while rocking back and forth between feet!
- If the gate to the kitchen is not closed, there is not telling what you will find him doing in there!
- If the shower is on, he will get in with or without clothes on
- He takes his clothes to the hamper every time he changes
- He puts his shoes away when asked
- He loves to help with the dishes and clean up the table
- He is really good at staying quiet while playing Hide-N-Seek
- He whispers really well
- He knows all the names of the entire Bob the Builder team!
Cal will be two in May! It's just so hard to believe. He is so much fun and keeps all of us on our toes. He is a good helper both with cleaning up as well as making a mess! It's just crazy to know that he's going to be two years old. Honestly, where does the time go?
We went out to take our Spring pictures in the gorgeous weather yesterday! The kids did a pretty good job. Lots of cracker bribery and a few crying fits, but we did end up with some pretty good shots. I'm sure I'll be taking plenty more this weekend....don't worry!
Juliet was in her first school play this year! The Aristocats was put together by the teachers at her school. They had roughly 130 kids participate and they practiced for months. The two performances were last night and Thursday night. Jules did a really good job, but more importantly, she had a lot of fun! She and her really good friend, Mari, were inseparable!
